Plotting NASA satellite data in python

I previously posted about the ocean treasure that is NASA Giovanni:

I wanted to update that thread and share code for plotting satellite data in Python. Ocean Data View is still one of my favorites, but Python is nice too especially when you want greater control over the graphic.

Jupyter notebook code is available here, modified from Earth Data.
